The saga continues
Woke up about 6:30am. Took it leisurely. A few texts with the team. And more with the mule packer. Trying to get confirmation about 2 of our 4 resupply boxes.
Then a call to Budget car rental where I prepaid for a car but didn’t take it. That’s all covered in post #1. Took about 20 minutes but my refund was processed.
Then to breakfast at the hotel. Waited 5 minutes. No service. As I walked out the server was finally coming around. I kept walking. I wasn’t confident it would work out. Not a lot of food options near me in this part of town.
So now. I’m here. One might say, I’vebeen hoppin’ around 🤣

I need to find a USB-c to iPhone “lightning” cord. My rental car doesn’t accept standard USB 🤦♂️
After that I’ll check out of the hotel and head to the hills. Our group is now contemplating skipping the 60 mile car shuttle and hiking the additional 25 miles to make a full loop. We will try to get a walk up permit for Monday in order to start a day earlier than our permit allows.
The drive was really easy. Just head east. I passed a fruit stand and went back. Got a couple peaches, an orange, and figs. Oh my the figs were tasty.

I got to the campground about 2:20. Easy check-in. Site 176. I tried switching to a shadier spot but it’s totally booked.

Then it was onto the visitor center and wilderness information center to see about starting our trip early. There is a lot of space for Twin Lakes TH so after checking with the team, I/we decided that I’d be there at 7am tomorrow and secure a permit.
Then I grabbed a beer from the cooler and got a cheeseburger and fries from the concession. I took it back to camp to enjoy a proper modern day camping meal.

I grabbed some condiments for the trip and a sticker for the bear can.

That’s pretty much a wrap for today. Some neighbors a few spots away are playing music. It was annoying at first but I got used to it. I may go walk a bit.
